Starting with the contrived drift of a shadow across the face of a sundial, timekeeping devices can be considered one of the earliest forms of kinetic sculpture.

Machine Clock is an electro-mechanical timepiece that, in customary skeleton clock fashion, draws upon the pragmatic charm of a gear train as a source of beauty as well as the heart of its utility. Bracketed by an electric motor and magnetic switches, the gears calculate the time without the aid of microcontroller or other electronic components.

The time is displayed on four beautiful cold-cathode numerical display (aka “Nixie”) tubes, mid-twentieth century neon technology that once enjoyed widespread use in instrumentation and appliances.
